Network Rail has extended its partnership with Velociti Solutions, selecting RailSmart Trainset & Timetables (T&T) technology to produce over 200 high-quality working timetables (WTTs) bi-annually.
Network Rail has utilised RailSmart T&T for several years to produce the national rail passenger timetables in high-quality PDF format. Network Rail has selected the solution to produce its detailed working timetables dataset that outlines every movement across Britain’s rail network, including freight services, empty trains, and those coming in and out of depots.
RailSmart T&T is a powerful software solution purpose-built to transform rail timetable production. By automating complex data processing and generating professional, accessible outputs, it eliminates the inefficiencies of manual processes to create the WTT.
The switch to RailSmart T&T has streamlined what was previously labour-intensive. With advanced automation, WTT production time has been reduced from several days to just a few hours.
The working timetables will continue to be hosted on the Network Rail website in a user-friendly spreadsheet format. These will be published in May and December, aligning with the industry’s twice-yearly timetable change cycle.

Martin Gleadow, Head of Rail Products at Velociti Solutions, said, “We’re thrilled to support Network Rail in such a key timetabling activity. RailSmart T&T is designed to make complex data both manageable and meaningful, and we’re delighted to see it delivering real impact at a national level. It not only streamlines the production process but also ensures the highest quality and accuracy for all users.
“As the industry continues to evolve, we remain committed to delivering cutting-edge digital tools that drive performance, safety, and reliability across the industry.”
