May 25 – Velociti Solutions was honoured to be a sponsor of the incredible Bonkers Bikers charity ride over the May Bank Holiday weekend, which saw 18 dedicated cyclists from across the rail industry raise more than £44,000 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, with an additional £3,000 donated to other worthy causes.
The riders, representing companies from across the rail sector—including Freightliner, Network Rail, East Midlands Railway, West Midlands Trains, Chiltern Railways, and more—completed a self-supported 400km journey from Leeds to Hull, then from Rotterdam through the Netherlands and into Cologne, Germany.
Velociti Solutions proudly joined other corporate sponsors in supporting this incredible effort. Sponsorship funds helped cover vital logistics such as van hire and fuel, ensuring that 100% of rider fundraising went directly to the charities. Every rider and support team member covered their own accommodation, travel, and meals, further underscoring their dedication to the cause.
Darren Ward, organiser of the event, said: “As a team of rail professionals, planning and organising is part of the day job. Being able to use these skills to arrange a charity bike ride represents a donation in time worth thousands of pounds that would otherwise divert funds away from the charity.”
We extend our congratulations to the Bonkers Bikers team and are proud to have played a part in this outstanding achievement that will make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families supported by Birmingham Children’s Hospital
Velociti- driving positive change in rail and beyond.
Although the ride is now over, the fundraising still goes on! Donations can be made via the team fund raising page.
